Post occupancy evaluation
ZZA undertook a POE of the new Student Union building on UWE’s large Frenchay campus. Our research covered the centre’s diverse programme of functions and spaces. We evidenced how what are essentially two buildings – one student-focused, one staff-focused – are perceived, used, and run, engaging with FM staff as specialist building users. The evaluation also incorporated a specialist focus on M+E performance, for which we partnered with Max Fordham engineers.
Process evaluation
UWE’s commission incorporated a Process Evaluation. ZZA engaged one-to-one with key participants in the client and delivery team in a structured review of the process to conceive and deliver the building, and assess the outcome against the brief. UWE’s objectives were to learn lessons for future projects, and the team evidenced these intentions through their openness and thorough engagement with the evaluation team in discussing the findings.
