Longitudinal post occupancy evaluations
Over the past two decades, the School has dramatically transformed its campus. Covering physical infrastructure and services, this ambitious scope involves campus expansion, new buildings, adaptive re-use of interiors and external spaces, and changes to FM.
Both to help guide strategy and benchmark effective delivery, LSE Estates have commissioned ZZA to undertake serial studies of how students experience and perceive the campus. Commencing in 2011, then at four yearly intervals, this research leverages ZZA’s methodologies for UX:SPACE and UX:CAMPUS. The longitudinal picture from the four studies to 2023 shows notably incremental student satisfaction with the physical campus offer. This result is more notable given LSE’s growth of student numbers and the cultural shifts in live, work, learn and play through the intervening period.
The comprehensive scope of this work includes focused briefing and feedback on study space – an aspect of campus provision that all our research has evidenced students regarding as a core requirement.
