Make_5 Broadgate
Post occupancy evaluation
Developed by British Land, 5 Broadgate was completed in 2015 as a consolidated workplace for a major bank. Designed by Make Architects to the bank’s bespoke brief and the developer’s requirements, the stainless steel-clad ‘groundscraper’ was occupied in 2016. In August 2018, to acquire sound learning about the performance of a Make building as experienced by users, the architects commissioned ZZA to undertake an independent POE. Focusing on Make’s work, and following an approach and scope of study devised with the bank, ZZA’s research focused on the base build, covering the different types of floor in the 65,300m²,13-storey building, and enlisting systematic input from a wide range of users in different roles. The study evidenced many notable building achievements in promoting the occupier’s effectiveness.
